VAWT WITH 3 PHASE ALTERNATOR

HOME

DESIGN:  Thanks to imikewillrockyou on youtube for the main structure design, I built this Verticle Axis Wind Turbine as a stepping stone to creating and building my own 3 phase alternator.  Check out his link for the materials list and videos on constructing this VAWT as your own.  The 3 phase alternator consists of two 8 inch diameter, 1/8 inch thick steel disks, 32 rare earth neodymium magnets (16 per disk) and twelve 110 turn 22 AWG copper magnet wire coils.  The coils were wound, wired and then poured within an epoxy resin base.  Still working on re-designing this because in warm tempatures it tends to warp and then drag on the rotating magnet disks.  This could be due to a mistake on my part of not adding enough hardner to the epoxy resin, especially since I added frit to the mixture to help with cooling the coils.

 OUTPUT TESTS:  0 - 32 Volts AC WIND: ~15 to 20 mph
